Reflection:

Hi....jpg
I believe that this photo, is probably my best to date, because it is minimalist, i style i really enjoy,it incorporates music, which i adore, and makes use of rule of thirds. It might not be possible to see what really caught my eye about the double bass. In the upper left hand corner of the rule of thirds grid, you may be able to see the small engraving "Hi", it's one of my favorite parts of this picture, as you would only notice it if you were really concentrating on the setting of the photo. I would like to note that this photo was NOT taken in sepia, but merely against a white wall, with some interesting coloring. It was one of my earlier photos from this class, but it definitely remains my favorite.

Culture Clash
NikkiWinesPhotoshop.jpg
Photoshop reflection: My photo is meant as a visual representation of the contrast between the cultures of America and China. Specifically, modern middle class USA, and the people of a village in Beijing. What struck me as inspiration for this was that the people in this village are being run out of their homes by the government. I juxtaposed the feelings of american, and their views on the government actions (specifically in wars) as opposed to the current feelings of the people in this village on the actions of the government. i chose representation of government advertising (propaganda and campaign posters) to represent how one government was chosen, and did what the people chose, while the other (China's) forced people to choose them, and did what they themselves wished. The flag and soldier's portrait represent american patriotism, while the ruined village and mother and child represent pain and suffering for the people of the village. I also juxtaposed the setting, with the Miami skyline and ferris wheel representing industrialization throughout America, while much a of China still remained undeveloped. The bench and pumpkins represent sequentially the natural beauty of america as opposed to china's manufactured beauty, and the differences in culture (halloween, widely celebrated in the USA but not so much in China) My most used tool was the blur tool and the eraser, along with the warp tool coming in second place. I think i was very successful in conveying how the differences in supporting the government were shown through their cities and villages. However, i think i may have gotten a little off track and added some other elements; these elements, while influential, are not the focus of the project. OVERALL , a really fun project
